Abotz

I'm a stay at home mom, but I do work... a little bit. I work part-time as an assistant to Abotz, a photography business that my sister-in-law runs. Last Saturday, I had another opportunity to second shoot or help out whenever I'm needed. I've never made money out of my own photos until I started shooting for her. I don't take good photos. But I make a great assistant (or at least I think so). In the long run, I don't see myself running my own photography business. I only take photos because it is a pleasure to do so. But I like to learn. I took this job so I can learn more about taking better photos, about running a business, about interacting with people, about juggling work and family. I want to learn as much as I can with what I have. And right now, I have her and her awesomeness to learn from. Over the next few months, I hope to take on a new role in her business. If all goes well, I will get to write more. I hope to write more in general. I just hope I will be able to do more.

Here are a few things I've learnt so far:
  • Wear shoes that are appropriate for formal occasions yet comfortable enough to do an impromptu location change (ex. from city streets to biking trails) or you'll get terrible blisters on both your feet.

  • There is never a dull moment when shooting with Abotz.

  • I will be consumed by wanderlust.

If you haven't yet, check out her Facebook page here. And give her some love!
